If the weather is really bad, the boat can be completely or partially covered, but we try to keep the boat uncovered as much as possible. This way you can see the artworks clearly. We have blankets, so you can comfortably enjoy an unforgettable canal cruise through the illuminated canals of Amsterdam.
Amsterdam Light Festival 2025/2026, Edition 14
It looks like The Amsterdam Light Festival 2025/2026 will be wonderful again. This 14th edition has the theme “Legacy.” The artists were asked the question: “How will we, or do we want to, be remembered?” The artworks will show us how the artists want future generations to see us. Whatever the outcome, the light artworks will undoubtedly be stunning once again.

The Amsterdam Light Festival 2023 was a wonderful experience. This twelfth edition took us on a journey through a magical world of imagination. The light artworks stimulated our fantasy and showed us things we never thought possible.
Amsterdam Light Festival 2021, Edition #10
Celebrate Light was the theme of the Amsterdam Light Festival 2021. It was meant to be the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ALF. Unfortunately there was no Amsterdam Light Festival Canal Cruise the year before, but we planned to make up for the loss this year!
Unfortunately it didn’t happen that way. Covid hit society once again. Initially, the boats were still allowed to have tours during the day. But as it was still light, the magical feeling the ALF is known for was completely lost.
After a few weeks, the Netherlands went into lockdown again and boat tours were no longer allowed. The long-awaited anniversary of the Amsterdam Light Festival came to an abrupt end.
What can I expect from the tour?
- The tour takes approximately 75 minutes
- Make sure that you are present 15 minutes before departure. You may have to wait 15 to 30 minutes. This is because our host will ensure that everyone gets a nice seat on one of our boats. We apologize in advance.
- Departure and arrival of the tour are at the same location. Hopping on or off during the tour is only possible in exceptional cases.
- Along the way you’ll see the works of art, about which our captain and/or host(ess) will tell you facts in an informal way.
Where is the Amsterdam Light Festival?
The Amsterdam Light Festival takes place every year in Amsterdam. Light artworks are on display in and along the canals, which you can admire from the water. At Floating Amsterdam you board at the pier at Stationsplein 30 (at Central Station). You then float the route that leads you along all the light objects. You can do this while enjoying a hot glühwein, hot chocolate or any other drink you prefer.

- You will be floating in an electric, open sloop.
- The boat can be fully or partially closed off when it rains.
- The front and back decks are reserved for the first guests to arrive with a VIP 18+ Ticket.
- There is room for 22 people on the sloop

Based on your wishes you can choose from three kinds of tickets:
Regular: food & drinks are not included, but can be purchased on board.
Plus: includes unlimited drinks (beer, wine, soda).
VIP: unlimited drinks (beer, wine soda, liquor, cocktails, G&T). Please keep in mind that the host(ess) also wants to give attention to the other guests.
